Manometer of various kind
A pressure gauge (manometer also - from Greek manos "thin, permeable") is a measuring device for detecting and displaying the physical pressure of a fluid (liquid, gas). Most use the outside air pressure gauge as a reference pressure, only in special designs to measure the absolute pressure at the barometer such as a vacuum is used as a reference. Pressure gauges, because of their measurement techniques can be divided in
• direct pressure gauges (measuring the force per unit area)
• indirect pressure meters (measurement of particle number density, thermal conductivity, etc.)
